About
Our company is founded upon a simple phrase used throughout our home for generations. It evolved from a casual conversation starter to a lifestyle but the story of its origin begins with one man. My great-grandfather, whom everyone called Papa Cash, lived through the Depression and saw the world turned upside down many times over through his 90 plus years. As a result, nothing seemed to take him by surprise. He knew trouble would visit us all but was wise enough to know that we nearly always got to the other side eventually. So his oft spoken phrase, "be at ease," was no doubt a mantra learned by a lifetime of experience that he sought to spread to the rest of his family. Papa Cash had learned to be content with the simple things in life. A sturdy rocking chair, his favorite hat, the simple pleasure of walking around his yard or neighborhood, and the occasional chance to be of help to somebody were all he needed to be happy. In his retirement years, he had a knack for helping people slow down and reminding us to be at ease, even as the pace of the world continued to move faster.
Our goal at be at ease co.is to follow in his footsteps by spreading the message of enjoying the simple things in life and inviting people to purposely create community with others. The idea may take some intention in the midst of everyone’s hectic schedules, but our company is in the business of simplicity, and we hope to provide products that will be a small reminder of this idea. Being at ease is a state of mind that can be cultivated. It can be something as simple as grabbing a cup of coffee or taking a weekend trip to the beach. There are endless ways to find time to be at easeand it could completely change our lives in a culture filled with unrest. We invite any and every person to join in our movement and look for new ways to do it each and every day. I believe there was a reason we all enjoyed going over to Papa Cash’s house as the years went by, and it wasn’t just for the ice cream sandwiches and two dollar bills he liked handing out (although those were pretty great.) It was having a place where everything was simple, people cared about each other, and outside pressure seemed to disappear. When you wear our clothing, use our products, and embrace our message, we hope you will come into our world... and simply be at ease.
